Thinking about subdividing your property? A subdivision is the legal process of creating one or more new titles from an existing parcel of land. This allows land to be sold or transferred separately, or developed in new ways. Subdivision requires council approval and the involvement of professionals such as surveyors, engineers, and sometimes town planners.

What is a Subdivision?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A subdivision is required when you wish to transfer or sell part of your land that is not separately transferable under its current title. In Victoria, every subdivision must be approved by council under the Subdivision Act 1988. A licensed surveyor prepares a Plan of Subdivision, which defines the new lots and boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a planning permit application is straightforward, we can assist with preparing and lodging it. For more complex planning matters, we recommend that you engage a qualified town planner.
